Drive against tinted vehicle windows conducted
ZIRO, Jan 29: The Third round of the drive against dark tinted films on vehicle window glasses was conducted by the district administration in and around Hapoli town today.
The 1st and 2nd phases of the drive under the aegis of the Deputy Commissioner of Lower Subansiri yielded a lot of appreciation from the general public as it led to an heightened awareness of the traffic rules and regulation among the drivers.
Vehicles without valid papers were also checked during the drive and 175 numbers of vehicles were imposed fine for violation of MV Acts. Many of the violators of the traffic rules are riders of two wheelers. An amount of Rs 40100 was realized as fine from the defaulters during the checking drive, according to an official release.

Training on IDSP for medical staff organized
ITANAGAR, Jan 29: One Day Training on Integrated Disease Surveillance Project (IDSP) for Medical Officers and Paramedical staffs was organized by District Surveillance Unit (DSU), Upper Subansiri District, Daporijo at District Hospital Conference hall yesterday.
Discussion on the importance of disease surveillance and the role of Medical Officers and Paramedical staffs in early detection of any type of disease outbreak were held. A mass interaction between the participants and resource persons was also held during the training.

Senior GB beaten up
ITANAGAR, Jan 29: The miscreants on Monday night beat up senior Gaon Burah of Sangkeng village under Namphai II area and injured him. According to the sources, cadres belonging to an underground asked the Gaon Burah to arrange for meat and drinks.
The old person expressed his inability stating that it was already late and majority of shops had closed by then. This infuriated the cadres and they thrashed Gaon Burah.
Meanwhile, women group from Miao area lodged an FIR against cadres of NSCN (IM) at Miao police station today claiming that they had beaten up Gaon Burah. While talking to this daily officer in charge of Miao Police Station informed that they have received written complaint from women group and will act accordingly to it.
Arun Dairy resumes sale of packet milk

Fire gutted three houses
ITANAGAR, Jan 29: Three houses along with properties worth lakhs of rupees were gutted down in a fire accident at Koto village, East Kameng District on January 26 last. However, there were no human causality and the cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, informed East Kameng Middle Zone Students’ Union.
The union appealed to the district administration for immediate spot verification and provides adequate relief materials to the Koto fire victims. It also appealed to the organizations and NGOs to come forward to help the victims.

3 Arunachalee students clear 1st round of audition
ITANAGAR, Jan 29: Three Arunachalee students currently studying in ITFI College Chandigarh, namely Wangjing Wangjen (BHSRM student), Pill Biman (BBA student) and Penga Bojir (B.Sc ATHM student) have been selected for next round of MTV talent hunt show known as Maruti Suzuki Colors of Youth 2012 season II. The audition for show was held at Chandigarh group college yesterday and was judged by Subir Malik of Parikarma fame and actress Isha Koppikar.
Hundreds of students took part in the audition but only six candidates were selected including three students from Arunachal Pradesh. This was first round of North Zonal level and 2nd round will be held at New Delhi tomorrow. It will be followed by final round audition at Mumbai. Panggeng visits fish ladder construction site

Sirang and Maytek streams are the tributaries of Yamne river which jointly flow to the Yamne river. Meytek stream has a steep Water fall which in Adi is called as “SISO DIINGGO”.
The fishes from below the water fall coming from the Yamne can't come up and cross the waterfall. Therefore, a channel from above the waterfall is being constructed to divert some volume of waters to the parallel Sirang stream through which fishes from the Sirang and Yamne can pass above the waterfall (Siso Dinggo). This is the first of its kind in Arunachal Pradesh till date and would have a tourist attractions in future after its completion. The fund is being funded by the State's Fishery Development department and the scheme is being executed by the RWD, Yingkiong.

State level training on SJSRY, NULM held
ITANAGAR, Jan 29: The two days state level training on SJSRY and the proposed NULM organized by Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE), Itanagar under sponsorship of Ministry of Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation, Government of India concluded at IGNOU Conference Hall, at Naharlagun today.
Inaugurating the training, Prof. Dipankar Pal, Director, North Eastern Regional Institute of Science & Technology (NERIST) threw light on the SJSRY and the proposed NULM scheme said that NERIST has become a centre for short duration vocational training to generate livelihood for youths of the state.

National Girl Child Day celebrated
ROING, Jan 29: The National Girl Child Day was celebrated for the first time at Anganwadi Training Centre, New Colony Roing on Jan 24 last.
Dr Atlok Yirang, DMO while chairing over the programme has lauded the Deputy Director, ICDS for initiating the observation of National Girl Child Day for the first time in the district. He further exhorted the gathering to give equal treatment and facilities to the girl child and not to differentiate between a boy and a girl child. A properly educated woman can take necessary care and impart proper education to their children, he observed. AALO, Jan 29: No priest of the past and present generation of our society is as renowned and miraculous as late Kasi Yomcha was, who spent most of his life outside the home in the jungles, tree tops, bushes, banana grooves, rivers and the roofs of the houses without food and water to cast his divine magical spell.
The wife of the famous priest, who is the longest surviving woman under Liromoba Assembly Constituency nearing hundred years, relates the miraculous feats and supernatural power of her late priest husband. Conversion of rope into snakes, dragging of fishes from the river at will, piercing the finger to get water out of dry soil and ultimately taking the shape of tiger for some time creating havoc by killing domestic animals in Yomcha, Tirbin and Lombi areas were some of the miracles he had performed that remained a mystery for the tribal people.
It was after some years of isolation that he came back to his hometown, Yomcha with age telling on him and health severely deteriorating and remained without food and water for four to five days. It was during this fasting period that the famous Topo Gone was made by late Kasi Yomcha under the cover of blanket in an unconscious state, half human and half animal. This unique antique made of local metal depicts ailing female along with snake and frog surrounding it. It is said that the antique was at first created with a male along with the female but the male was abandoned due to bad omen attached to it as most of the thirteen children out of his wedlock with three wives, especially male use to die and every death in the family and Yomcha village resulted in the coming of blood drops at Topo Gone. After abandoning the male Topo Gone, two of the sons survived and the youngest son, Siter Yomcha is a sought after young priest in the state and he has inherited some of his father’s power at the very tender age.
Legend says that Topo Gone, an ancestral female damsel was on his marriage journey and sat on a stone which was in its infant stage despite caution not to do so and ultimately got stuck there along with the frog and snake that followed them. The antique which depicts that mythology was created during his ailing period and said to portray an ailing damsel and late Yomcha got well after the creation and today the antique is under the custody of the wife of late Kasi Yomcha and whosoever visits Yomcha make a glance to the historical specimen. But pregnant ladies are always scared of viewing or touching it fearing of insane and ill health babies under the influence of ill health female Topo Gone.
Now, the wife of late Kasi Yomcha and the youngest priest son Siter Yomcha are desperate to get a scheme from the Govt. to erect a safe hall for the Topo Gone for public viewing and detailed estimate is being prepared to press the Govt. for consideration. DIPRO

UN trust fund
A new trust fund aimed at boosting youth volunteerism has been established with the goal of transforming the energy of the world's young people into tangible global development targets, the United Nations has announced.
Launched by the UN Development Programme (UNDP) and UN Volunteers (UNV), the trust fund will provide the financial foundations for the creation of a youth volunteering modality which, in turn, will assist governments in the development of their own national and regional youth volunteer schemes while encouraging thousands of young people to support peace and development activities worldwide.
Since launching operations in 1971, the UNV programme has deployed more than 7,700 volunteers every year nationally and internationally, with 80 per cent coming from developing countries, and more than 30 per cent volunteering within their own countries.
The volunteers play key roles in contributing to peace and development in some 130 countries, helping to organize and run local and national elections and supporting a large number of peacekeeping and humanitarian projects. Both Modi and Paron provided us an ambulance belonging to Arunachal Charity Home to drop the dead body of my brother late RAM TAYENG from Dibrugarh to our native village at AYENG in East Siang district on 27th of this month without charging anything. The Arunachal Charity Home also provided us accommodation facilities to my family at low rate as compared to normal people, during our stay at Dibrugarh for Late Ram’s treatment.
